The papers include files documenting the work of a three man committee including Dayton, Craig W. Osenberg and John R. Skalski appointed jointly by Southern california Edison and the California Coastal Commission to study impacts to kelp resulting from the operation of San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS) 2 and 3. The files include drafts of the SONGS report and background material including SONGS coastal permit requests and amendments and Marine Review Committee reports, and memoranda and email dated February 21 to May 5, 1996. The papers also document Dayton's activities as a member of the National Research Council, Commission on Geosciences, Environment and Resources, Ocean Studies Board, Committee on Fisheries. The committee was appointed in 1993 to study and report on the reauthorization of the Fishery Management Act (Magnuson Act). The files include correspondence, committee drafts and meeting agendas.
